If you’ve been an entrepreneur for any amount of time, you’ve probably figured out that entrepreneurship is NOT always fun. Honestly, it’s actually really difficult. The challenges of entrepreneurship are definitely not for the faint of heart.

Sure, there are a lot of good days. But then there are the bad days.

The frustration can be overwhelming, especially when you’re feeling isolated and don’t know what to do next. And it’s not like being at a corporate job, where if there’s an issue, you can talk to a coworker or a boss right there on site.

It’s ALSO not like a corporate job, in that when you’re an entrepreneur, you’re responsible for everything in the business. From marketing to making money, it’s ALL on you.

How to get through the challenges of entrepreneurship

They say that entrepreneurship is the best self-development tool in the world. There’s a reason for that!

Now, if you happen to have a strong sense of self, that’s a major plus. But even if you do feel pretty confident about life, being an entrepreneur can (and will!) push your limits.

And if you come from a background like mine, growing up with struggle, fighting, and uncertainty, it can really underscore the parts of you that need healing. (That’s a nice way of saying that the challenges of entrepreneurship can hit even harder in some situations!)

It’s totally amazing what entrepreneurship will teach you about yourself, and I found that out fast when I got started.

I had been in the accounting and finance industry for about 10 years when I began contemplating an entrepreneurial path. My work ethic was solid. I was good at what I did. I figured that I could do what I did for others on make my own business out of it, and the transition would be pretty easy.

But some of the challenges of entrepreneurship turned out to be things I didn’t even consider…

For one thing, when I was an employee, I did my job while I was at the office. Then I went home. Two separate spaces, and that was that. But when I became an entrepreneur, the lines between my business and personal life really began to blur. I discovered that I no longer had a personal life and a business life. I had entrepreneurship.

Another surprise challenge of entrepreneurship was what I discovered I was the product, I was my service. And I had to embrace all sides of myself to excel in my business. Definitely a shock to the system!

What can you do to make the challenges of entrepreneurship easier to navigate?

Here I’ll share 3 things that I discovered helped me recreate a work-life balance, feel more confident, and move through entrepreneurial challenges with a lot more ease.

1-Set business boundaries.

With the world being like it is these days, it’s all about constant availability. Messenger apps, Social Media, all the things. And if you work from a home office, the actual boundaries are even more blurred. So It’s never been more important to set boundaries with your availability. So do what you can to ensure that you’re secure in your boundaries, both online and offline. Outsource when you need to. Stick to your business hours as much as possible.

This can be a challenge when you’re building something new and in the middle of the “hustle.” But do yourself a favor and schedule some downtime for YOU. Even if it’s a few minutes a day, give yourself time to recharge.

2-Connect with others who “get it.”

Having a community is so helpful when you’re an entrepreneur, especially if you’re doing the solopreneur thing. So be sure that you’ve got others in your world you can talk to, share ideas, and get support. Whether it’s online or offline (both is ideal!), find a business bestie or two that you can always connect with. Makes all the difference in the world!

3-Make mindset work a priority.

I talk about mindset ALL the time here, I know! But that’s because it really is that important. Mindset work helped me ground myself in faith and trust, and it made getting through the ups and downs of business a lot easier. So focus on improving your business and money mindset as much as you can. (Hint: my free mini-course is a great place to start!)

So if you’re feeling lost, blocked, or stuck in trying to figure everything out in your business, make these 3 tips a part of your strategy. Let them help you feel more peaceful, grounded, and ready to take on the challenges of entrepreneurship.

You can do this, just know that all the challenges are simply part of the process. You’re not alone, and there IS support out there! So set boundaries, connect with others, and focus on your mindset. And take it one step at a time.
